S3: Chapter 05: In the Line of Fire

“What’s with all the firepower?” Brett asked watching Yvette toss weapon after weapon into the cache in the trunk.
She sighed and slammed the door shut before sliding in beside him. “I would lie and say just in case but I won’t. Brett I’ve been going over this whole thing and everything Nate told you and...”

S3: Chapter 04: Breakthrough

Author's note:
Hello readers! I know many of you sometimes gloss over warnings because you have become used to the way I write and since you haven't abandoned me I assume you've come to enjoy it. Thank you :)
However this chapter, I wanted to ensure you DIDN'T scroll by it. This chapter does NOT contain the adult material you have become accustomed to from this story. This chapter hits on the ongoing nature of Stefanie Brooks' relationship with her father Eddie.
If you are sensitive to child abuse or that topic is one that causes you extreme emotional distress I'd like to ask that you skip through those parts or bypass this chapter completely. I would not want to make you uncomfortable while reading.
Thank you again,
Daijah

S3: Chapter 03: Family Ties

Ryan waited outside of the school watching to see if Stefanie had intentions to show today. He worried more about her after their last conversation; she seemed defeated which broke his heart. He’d hate to think she’d given up because of her situation. His promise replayed in the back of his mind as she stepped off the bus and pushed her way through the crowd of teenagers to enter the building. He said a silent prayer and started up his engine to head back home.

S3: Chapter 02: Target Practice

**Armenian translations in Italics after the sentence.**

“What does this mean?” Brett asked peeking over Yvette’s shoulder and sighing.

“It means the Company was playing games with Yvette from the start. Every mission they’d sent her on up to this point was a means to eliminate her. What they didn’t count on was her level of training and ability to see her way out of those sticky situations. Her will to survive and ensuring the safety of her men brought her out of each engagement nearly unharmed every time.”

S3: Chapter 01: Aftermath

Brett pulled his arm from under Yvette’s head and pushed off the bed silently. He turned and looked at her; her face was calm as it had been the last four weeks. He was struggling to understand where she was emotionally and it was beginning to eat away at him.

S2: Chapter 10: Live and On Air

Vic pulled himself up from the floor and pulled out his cellphone. He quickly punched in Yvette’s number and waited.
…“Hello…?” Brett asked sounding a little groggy.
“They took them…they took my family.”
…“What? Who took them? What are you talking about…?”

S2: Chapter 09: The Price of Freedom

Vic hung his head heavy as he dragged his equipment into the garage and dropped onto his work bench. He hadn’t slept soundly for a week and now that he knew Yvette was alive, he didn’t expect that to change much. Now the focus would be on resolving the case and finding the person that placed the hit on her.
He was so lost in thought he hadn’t realized his son was standing beside him rambling on about the motorized car Kiara had thrown into the bathtub and ruined. He stopped talking for a minute and stared at his Daddy waiting for an answer to a question that went unheard.

S2: Chapter 08: Bad Streak

“Pin Cushion?” Ryan called stepping into the apartment with a bag full of groceries and a pizza. “Where are you?”
“Hey, Ry!” Stefanie smiled stepping from the back bedroom. Her face beamed brighter as she saw the pie in his hand and immediately relieved him of the load. “I’m starving!”
“I figured. You’re eating me out of house and home,” he laughed remembering the empty cabinets and fridge he was shocked to find the previous night. “Had I known you had a tapeworm, I would have asked it to pay rent before you moved in!”

S2: Chapter 07: La Cosa Nostra

They pulled up to a large mansion sitting atop the hill. “You know the people that live here?”

She shrugged, “I did. There’s no telling what I’d find there now.”
Three armed men walked out to the front and pulled them from the vehicle. “Call it intuition or my sixth sense, but somehow or another I knew I’d see you again, Vette,” a man dressed in black stepped from the ornately adorned doors of the home with a glass of wine in his hand. “Missed me?”
